This was when I knew I had made the right decision to join Hollister.

When I was first hired in 2018 as a Quality Engineer, I had to travel and train in Ballina, Ireland. My wife was pregnant at the time, but I expected to return in plenty of time for the birth. However, my firstborn decided to come a bit early, and my wife went into labor. All I had to do was ask, and my local HR manager immediately arranged for quick transportation for me back home to be with my wife and my beautiful new daughter. All this after only being with the company for three weeks! 

This was when I knew I had made the right decision to join Hollister. It showed me that the Immutable Principles are not just words and that the company really cares for its people. It shows in career development too. I’ve been promoted twice, and now I supervise a team of quality engineers at the quality assurance laboratory, which tests for ostomy product qualification, material and compliance. I feel that what I do is a special mission because it’s important to help make people’s lives with ostomies better. 

I also have a Cultural Ambassador role, so twice a year, I present the Culture of Hollister to newly-hired Associates. I look at this as a way to inspire others to do the right thing because my favorite Immutable Principle is Integrity, which is harder to describe than the other Principles. But what it means connects directly to my role and our team’s quality assurance goals, so I do my best to emphasize Integrity. 

We want to provide our customers with a superior quality product, which will make their lives more rewarding and dignified. So, you always have to do the right thing, even if it’s harder and means more work.
